Read Review

T2 have a great series of 10 CD boxed sets in their "Kind Of" range covering the music of Brubeck, Monk, Coltrane, Getz and a whole lot more. They're all superb collections with the CDs in card sleeves contained in a solid flip-top box - just plain and simple excellent value.

This collection is a fantastic example of what the series of box sets contains.  Looking at the track list, it didn't take long for me to work out that albums like Mingus 3, Pithecanthropus Erectus, Tonight At Noon, New Tijuana Moods and others are lurking under T2's own obscure album titling and that the three Live In Stuttgart (1964) CDs come from the hard to find Unique Jazz albums. That means these boxes are stuffed with tremendous, classic modern jazz that would cost you more than £50 if you shopped around and found them on their original labels. Red Lick is selling these boxes for much, much less than this - surely we're looking at one of the bargains of the decade!
